Called Higher

One of my favorite ways to worship and spend time with Jesus is through music.  Lately, He has been showing me a lot about His character as my Father (i'll post some about those another time..)

One of the songs that's been such a great encouragement and way to give more of my soul to Him is by All Sons and Daughters - 'Called me Higher.'  This song just grips my heart, and makes me realize that God has called ALL of us higher than anything we can ever imagine. 

This music video hit me in a different way tonight though.  As you'll see, it shows a plane taking off and flying over the sea.  In just 35 days, my biggest prayer is that I'll be on a plane headed across an ocean, too. As I watched the video and listened to the words, God just reaffirmed all of this.  I reflected on the sadness I felt imagining all I will be leaving behind and who all I will have had to say tearful goodbyes to.  

Yet my mind also went to the new family God is blessing me with in the UK.  He has and will provide an amazing community full of more brothers and sisters to push me closer in my relationship with Him.  He is the only one who knows what my path and life looks like, and He has put the exact people in my life that I'll need for that.  i trust Him completely on that side - something I couldn't have said before I went to Fiji last year.

God's called me higher than my life here in Charlotte.  He has called me to abandon all I know, all that I'm comfortable with, all that society and people think I should have.  

He has called me to abandon it all because He has called me to something greater than I could imagine for myself.  

You don't have to fly on a plane across the world to feel that way.  God can and IS calling you higher than anything you can possibly dream for yourself.  All He asks is that you surrender it all to Him so He can BRING you higher.  

Take a moment - surrender your dreams before Him, and ask how He is calling you to something higher.  

Let His mercy light the path before you.
